“In looking for this single external person or thing that will forever bring us peace, stability, love, and health, we dismiss the more authentic power that lies behind our eyes and not in front of them… It is not what we choose that matters; our power to influence an outcome lies in our reasons for making a certian choice.”

“…when we Americans talk about “liberty and justice for all” we are alluding to equal rights for all human beings regardless of their race, gender or religion. As a naturalized American of Asian descent, I firmly attest to the fact that our constitution lives by these values. But the Bible?”

Regarding the connection between ‘faith and civility’ in a political setting: Since nearly everyone has their own spin on words, it would probably be a good idea for people who are in powerful positions (such as Mr. Obama) to be more specific about what his words really mean. For example when he refers to ‘faith’, is he talking about our faith as a religion faith, or generically speaking of the ability to have faith in someone, or some concept such as ‘civility’ or bla bla bla. In otherwords what the h–l is he talking about?
From my experience with his results for the last two years, I would say he is really saying “do what I want and we will get along just fine, otherwise we are not being civil”. As I become SBNR, I learn more and more about the wisdom in that most important of all connections, and how it ‘shows me MY way through this life’. If there is a litmus test for my jorney, then is must be this: anytime anyone does anything to take away my ‘right’ to make my own decisions, then I must object. disagreeing with someone does not make me uncivil. The method I use in disagreeing could. “the pen is always much more powerful and effective than the sword”.

Regarding the possibility of Muslims attempting to portray a kind-er gentler muslim terrorist! Lots to be said about this. I will make it as short as possible. The best way for any group to show themselves as kinder, would be within the organization itself. For example, if the softer side of the Mormon church members wanted to downplay it’s own extreme membership (those who are in constant criticism of everyone and everything that is not like themselves), then the movie, play, book should be about the interaction between or inside the membership itself, not how it interacts with the people on the outside. In otherwords, if a Catholic priest has gone rogue, then his peers should show how they can ‘with their own principles of love’ be (dare i say) SBNR. Too simplistic? Probably, but then using the easy button or doing it in the most direct way doesnt mean it will be easy. But isnt that what we call ‘wisdom’? When the soviet union ‘fell’ , it was most effective because of how the russian people themselves showed its very own despot leaders a better way. The SBNR muslims must show its own membership a better way!!! Muslim terrorism can only be cured from within, not by a softer film virsion in hollywood, unless of course the movies show how muslims can help muslims give up their terrorism. Mormons cant help baptist or vice versa. The ‘faith’ almost always gets in the way. Only people can help (assist) people. The orginization’s job is to make sure no one is FORCED to accept anyone’s ‘way’ or ‘truth’ or ‘directive’ or….
