Pedals for Progress – SBNR Daily 2-16-11

Today’s Goodness: We love a good Robin Hood story, without the whole ‘stealing’ bit. Luckily for us, there are plenty of wonderful organizations dedicated to helping the fortunate give to the less fortunate. One such organization is Pedals for Progress, which helps affluent Americans donate their used bicycles to less privileged individuals that need cheap, non-polluting transportation to get to jobs, markets, customers, and schools in developing countries. Have an unused bicycle in your basement that needs a new home? Click here to check out their collection schedule.

Today’s Teaching:

“We do not need to move elsewhere in order to find truth, for it is always present in the clear immediacy of our own direct experience… Neither do we need the endless and exhausting search to attain spiritual freedom – it is already profoundly present within the natural spaciousness of our true being.”

3. Bernard Schweizer: New-Age Positive Thinking, Disguised as Christianity
“But there is another type—eutheism on steroids—and it is designed to pre-empt any quarrel with God, nipping misotheism in the bud, as it were. I’m referring to what Barbara Ehrenreich calls “positive theology” and what’s otherwise known as “prosperity gospel.”
